The boat marathon is an amateur sports competition in which traditional autochthonous boats from the Neretva river valley compete.

This event is held once a year, every second Saturday in August, on a route 22,500 meters long. More than 400 rowers take part in the race, which stretches along the Neretva River and its tributaries, from Metković to Ploče.

Over the years, the Boat Marathon has become the largest maritime sports event in this part of Europe, attracting an increasing number of rowers and spectators every year.
